On the 19th of September, the Democratic National Convention Committee (DNCC) held a Kick-Off community service event in partnership with Democrats Work. DNCC staff and members of Democrats Work participated in a soccer clinic with under-served youth from Colorado UpLift, held by the Colorado Rapids at Dick’s Sporting Goods Stadium.“From day one, we’ve talked about our goal of being good citizens of the Denver community while we’re here,” said Leah D. Daughtry, CEO of the DNCC, according to their press release. “This service campaign is just one way for us to make good on that promise. This is truly a win-win-win. Through these activities, our staff will have the opportunity to engage with the community and learn more about Denver, answer questions and do a little bit of good along the way.”Other issues that the DNCC and Democrats Work are planning on addressing through service include homelessness and hunger, and environmental issues. Staff are planning to have at least one service activity per month leading up to the Convention.
