John Logie, professor of Rhetoric at the University of Minnesota, comments about the rhetoric of the 2008 presidential race.

Over the past week, leading up to the Pennsylvania primary, I’ve begun to hear representatives of the Clinton campaign and even Senator Clinton herself begin to try to push the idea that because Barack Obama has not yet hit the “magic number” of delegates he needs to end the primary season, that he is somehow unable to “close the deal.” In my role as a scholar of rhetoric, I feel the need to call a foul here.

The turnout was high in white wealthy areas and low in poor minority areas in Philadelphia. When Clinton claimed victory, it looked like a packed room on TV, but there was a reason. The UpTake’s Noah Kunin gives us the big picture of the small room.
